Polly E. McLean – Associate Professor, University of Colorado, Boulder.  McLean received her masters from Columbia University and PhD from the University of Texas at Austin.  Author of the soon-to-be published, (University Press of Colorado) book about the first African-American graduate of the State Normal School (UNC).

BGSG Heritage Festival presents a unique opportunity for researchers at all levels.  Allow BGSG members and special guest presenters to show you:

  • How to get your research started in the computer lab. (a hands on session that will demonstrate online research techniques)
  • Resources for African-American to get beyond 1870
  • Demonstrations of effective genealogy story telling, ways to engage your family beyond dates and events.
  • An awards and recognition luncheon will celebrate our past achievements, leaders and members.
